Springtime....A New Beginning

For those of us who live in the North
We have made it through another winter
The sun is shining a little brighter

The wind warmer
Buds are starting to sprout on the trees
The Crabapples flowering
Daffodils and Tulips showing off their colours

Windows Open
The smell of Spring in the air
Fresh cut grass
Rain

Oh wait
We don't need to open our windows
To get that fresh smell of Spring
I hear you can get it in a bottle

Those genuises
Have found a way to bottle
the smell of the great outdoors

Technology is amazing

Take a deep breath

You are inhaling a synthetic fragrance
primarily made from petrochemicals

What are Petrochemicals, you ask
from Wikipedia

Petrochemicals are chemical products made from raw materials of petroleum or other hydrocarbon origin. Although some of the chemical compounds that originate from petroleum may also be derived from coal and natural gas, petroleum is the major source.

A synthetic fragrance is born
when the unique chemical compound of an essential oil
is re-assmebled to become what is known as
A "Frankenstein" Frangrance

National Academy of Sciences reports that 95 percent of the chemicals used in synthetic fragrances are derived from petroleum and include benzene derivatives, aldehydes and many other known toxins and synthesizers capable of causing cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders and allergic reactions.

Did You Know

Synthentic frangrances are classifed by the FDA as "proprietary" ingredients and manufactures do not have to disclose the ingredients of synthetic fragrances

They are protected under the FDA's "Trade Secret" law

Maybe you should rethink that deep breath
If you continue to use products
containing synthetic fragrance

Or try something different

Use a product with no scent

Safe for the environment
Safe for you and your loved ones

and

Open a window
only then
will you truly understand
the power of a Natural scent

If that doesn't work for you
100% pure Essential Oils

Just add a few drops of your favourites

I like lavender

and bring the true scent
of the outdoors in
without the after affects
caused by synthetic

This is so great! I am going to link this info from my blog too. Had a loooong discussion with the girls about this over the weekend, and everyone's eyes widened as I introduced the idea of making your own cleaning products and getting the chemicals (poisons!) out of your cleaning life. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this up.

Hi April, synthetics can never replace nature for sure. That’s come pretty vividly across in your post. We try to can everything and try to present it as something fresh and as an alternative to the real thing. I guess some things in nature can never be duplicated. The essence of nature is that it is natural. The moment we use synthetics to mimic nature, the ‘natural’ in nature is gone. You can visit http://climatarians.org and find related topics there.

Thought-provoking post
